Cuélebre Sightings

2 documented sightings across Asturias and Cantabria, northern Spain.

  1. Felechosa, Aller, Asturias, Spain

Local residents of Felechosa in the Aller valley reported sightings of a large winged serpent emerging from a hillside cave at dusk. The creature was described as several meters in length with leathery bat-like wings and iridescent scales. The accounts were consistent across multiple independent witnesses in the village and were collected by Asturian folklore researchers, who noted they matched classical Cuélebre descriptions found in medieval Asturian texts.

  2. Cave near Picos de Europa, Cantabria, Spain

A shepherd in the Picos de Europa foothills reported discovering the entrance to a large cave blocked by a coiled creature of enormous size. He described diamond-hard scales, a broad flat head, and a foul smell emanating from the cave mouth. The shepherd fled and refused to return to the area. The account was documented by the Cantabrian Institute of Ethnography as consistent with pre-modern Cuélebre traditions recorded across the region since at least the 13th century.
