Dark Watchers Sightings
3 documented sightings across Santa Lucia Mountains and the Big Sur coast, California.
Santa Lucia Range north of Vandenberg AFB, Santa Barbara County, California
Pilot Les Brennan, flying a twin-engine Beechcraft just after sunset approximately 20 nautical miles north of Vandenberg Air Force Base, observed seven evenly spaced large dark humanoid figures standing along a high ridgeline of the Santa Lucia Range. Each figure was separated from the next by roughly a quarter mile. Brennan described the silhouettes as far too large and consistently spaced to be hikers or rock formations and noted that none had moved during the entire pass. The aerial vantage made the account one of the more unusual Dark Watcher reports on record.

San Juan Grade Road between San Juan Bautista and Hollister, San Benito County, California
Bryan of Hollister and his sister were driving San Juan Grade Road early one September morning when they saw a dark figure described as 'almost over 10 feet tall' with broad straight shoulders and a large cape-like garment standing at the edge of the mountain ridge gazing toward Fremont Peak. They stopped and attempted to circle back to get a closer look but the figure had vanished from the ridge by the time they returned. The account is consistent with Dark Watcher descriptions collected along the Santa Lucia Range corridor for centuries.

Cone Peak, Ventana Wilderness / Santa Lucia Mountains, Monterey County, California
A camper identified as Michael of Thousand Oaks and a companion were camped on a high ridge near Cone Peak overlooking the Pacific when they observed a tall figure standing on a higher ridge, partially obscured by drifting low clouds. The figure remained motionless and appeared to be watching them. Both campers experienced what they described as an indescribable physical and emotional discomfort that persisted through the night. They broke camp and descended at first light without further incident. The Cone Peak ridges have produced Dark Watcher accounts since Spanish settler times.
