Bigfoot Sightings

87 documented sightings across Pacific Northwest, Appalachia, and forested regions across the United States and Canada.

  1. Spectacle Lake, Madawaska Valley, Ontario, Canada

Over the nights of June 15–16, 2026, a group of campers at Spectacle Lake in the Madawaska Valley reported tree-knocking on two consecutive nights — the first night from across the lake, the second night close to their cottage. Five campers heard the knocking the first night and two the second; four also observed fast-moving blue and pink orbs or flashes of light and sensed an unexplained presence in the dense surrounding forest. No creature was seen directly. Logged as BFRO Report #81271 (Class B).

  2. Near Deadwood Dam, ~53 miles NE of Boise, Valley County, Idaho

Around 11:30 AM on June 13, 2026, in clear sunny conditions, an experienced hiker reported watching an upright bipedal creature on a hillside roughly 60–70 yards uphill, near Deadwood Dam about 53 miles northeast of Boise (nearest town Lowman). He described it as 5–6 ft tall with long reddish hair 'like a cinnamon black bear with much longer hair,' very bulky in the chest and shoulders, long arms, a torso longer than its legs, and a head that 'looked like it wasn't there, just a head sitting on human-like shoulders.' It walked with a notably human-like gait and was visible 15–20 seconds before walking uphill out of view; the witness also heard deep pig-like grunts. Logged as BFRO Report #81276 (Class A).

  3. U.S. Highway 80 near the Sabine River, west of Longview, Upshur County, Texas

At about 1:20 AM on June 12, 2026, a motorist on U.S. Highway 80 roughly 17 miles west of Longview (between Big Sandy and Wilkins, near the Sabine River) saw a large creature step from dense woods toward the highway. Caught in his high beams at around 30 feet, it stood 7–8 feet tall and 3–4 feet across the chest, covered in matted 'brownish red' hair with a mane-like ruff around an elongated, ape-nosed but human-mouthed face, more skin than hair on the face, and eyes that returned a hazy reflection. It turned to face the car, then retreated into the trees. Logged as BFRO Report #81252 (Class A).

  4. Highway 292 between Inman and Lyman, Spartanburg County, South Carolina

Around 11:30 PM on May 29, 2026, two motorists on Highway 292 between Inman and Lyman (about 11 miles northwest of Spartanburg) saw a large, dark bipedal creature near the roadway. The driver judged it 'well over 6ft tall, closer to 7ft'; the passenger likened it to 'a horse standing on its hind legs.' When the headlights hit it, it turned and moved quickly back into the woods upright, with distinctly fluid, human-like movement. Darkness and the brief duration kept either witness from making out facial features. Logged as BFRO Report #81207 (Class A).

  5. Near Lost Valley Road, Payette National Forest, Adams County, Idaho

Over Memorial Day weekend (May 22–25, 2026), ten friends from Parma, Idaho camping at a remote site near Lost Valley Road in Adams County reported a series of nighttime encounters with what they believed were multiple Sasquatches. The first occurred Friday night, May 22, when one camper saw a roughly 9-foot-tall figure walking upright a few yards behind a tent, with 'blank reflective eyes.' Further activity over the weekend kept the group on edge until they left.

  6. Whitefish Point near Paradise, Chippewa County, Michigan

At dusk on May 19, 2026, sisters Diane and Denise — visiting from the Lansing area with their Doberman 'Snoop Dog' — were near the Whitefish Point lighthouse on Lake Superior when they saw a dark upright figure on the beach beside a large pile of driftwood. They described it as built like 'a very big lumberjack with no neck'; it crouched and ducked when they shined a flashlight toward it. The dog alerted to it and pulled the sisters back toward the lighthouse before they fled.

  7. Wind River Highway north of Carson, Skamania County, Washington

On Friday, May 8, 2026, a woman driving about 50 mph along the Wind River Highway a mile or two south of Hemlock Road, north of Carson, saw debris and a roughly 4-by-2-foot boulder tumble down a 20-foot embankment. Looking up, she spotted a reddish-brown furry figure standing upright at the edge of the embankment with its back to her — about human-sized. A BFRO investigator suggested it may have been a juvenile sasquatch startled by a passing jogger, dislodging the boulder as it moved. Logged as BFRO Report #80159 (Class A).

  9. Garrettsville, Portage County, Ohio

Three days after the Mantua Center sightings, two more encounters were reported around Garrettsville on March 9, 2026, extending the Northeast Ohio cluster east through Portage and into neighboring Trumbull County. Witnesses described a tall, broad creature moving along trails and wooded edges. Bigfoot Society Podcast host Jeremiah Byron, who has interviewed more than 1,000 people about such encounters, called the timing unusual — multiple sightings in a small area within days — and said the accounts struck him as sincere.

Portage County Sheriff Bruce Zuchowski said about ten people independently described seeing a large creature giving off a strong musty odor while walking their dogs before it ran off into the trees.

  15. Interstate 80 near mile marker 169, Centre County, Pennsylvania

Around midday on October 4, 2025, a driver — a retired civil engineer and Air Force veteran — watched a dark, upright figure cross all four lanes of Interstate 80 about 20 miles from State College, clearing the guardrail effortlessly and vanishing into the trees in roughly three seconds. He described it as tall and unusually slender with long arms hanging below the waist, moving in a smooth gliding manner rather than running, and was nearly struck by another vehicle as he slowed. A second witness with over 50 years of hunting experience insisted it was not a bear. BFRO investigator Benjamin C. judged the witness 'sincere and very credible' and concluded he had seen a bigfoot. The witness compared the image days later against a 6-foot man standing in the same spot and judged the figure substantially taller and wider. No footprints were found on the banks, consistent with the creature having stayed in the water. Logged as BFRO Report #79083 (Class A).

They felt a massive hand with three visible fingers press against the outside of their tent wall, heard repeated mumbling vocalizations, and noticed that footfalls outside stopped precisely whenever they paused talking, as if the creature was mirroring their silence. When the father exited the tent and swept his flashlight across the tree line he illuminated a figure he estimated at 8.5 feet, dark brown to black in coloring, which shielded its eyes from the beam with one arm. Both men remained in the tent until first light and discovered large impressions in the soil around their campsite the following morning.

A military veteran working as a psychiatric nurse was driving home from a late shift on Highway 138 when he noticed a figure near a fence post he initially assumed was a stranded motorist. As he pulled alongside he realized the figure was at least 7 feet tall with no visible neck and a body entirely covered in long hair. He exited the vehicle with a flashlight and approached to within approximately 15 feet before the creature produced a vocalization that began as a high-pitched sound and escalated into a deep, resonant threatening growl. The witness described it as 'the most godawful sound I've ever heard' and immediately returned to his vehicle. He was visibly shaken during the BFRO follow-up interview conducted weeks later.

His account remained with the BFRO for decades as a rare multi-individual northeast Oregon report.
