The witness described an 8 to 8.5 foot creature covered in "coarse, matted, and greasy looking long brown hair," with legs short relative to its torso, arms reaching to knee height, shoulders over four feet across, little facial hair and a prominent jawline. Between 2 and 3 p.m. on May 15 or 16, 2026, a hunter scouting a deer stand site in the swamp pine forest along Goshen Swamp heard a distant splash. After waiting a minute or two he walked toward an opening, heard branches snapping, and saw what he described as "a massive what I can only say ape like animal" — 8 to 10 feet tall — running away from him and grunting as it went. At about 5:30 p.m. on May 10, 2026, sunny and 68°F, a family was relaxing by the lake on their property off County Road 53 while their children played in the woods nearby. The boy had been chopping at trees with a hatchet, and the parents had just called the children back, when the whole family heard crunching of something large moving through the forest followed by three very loud wood knocks. The father — a large, experienced outdoorsman — was badly shaken, saying the noise was "louder and more powerful than a tree branch or even a tree falling over" and was something he had never heard before. They packed up and left immediately. A later search turned up only possible tracks. On Friday, May 8, 2026, a woman driving about 50 mph along the Wind River Highway a mile or two south of Hemlock Road, north of Carson, saw debris and a roughly 4-by-2-foot boulder tumble down a 20-foot embankment. Looking up, she spotted a reddish-brown furry figure standing upright at the edge of the embankment with its back to her — about human-sized. Two third-shift workers reported a huge, very dark, wide figure with long strides near a railroad bed behind an industrial plant around 1:30 a.m.

At about 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 28, 2026, a witness dropped a friend at a farmhouse and drove roughly 600 yards on to his own hunting property near Route 213 and Route 7. From 350 to 400 yards off he saw a black figure standing in a field where the ground begins to slope away. It started moving once noticed, covering about 15 yards over roughly 15 seconds, pausing, then going on out of sight. A hunter of several decades, he was clear it was nothing he recognised: "It moved like a person, but was taller and black. And wasn't the shape of a bear on 4 legs it was long and upright." Around 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, March 15, 2026, a college professor and his wife were walking at the Audubon Wetlands Preserve on the east edge of Ashland when, shortly after crossing a boardwalk bridge, they heard two to three loud wood knocks. Hiking on, they found three or four large tracks pressed into muddy ground, measuring 14 to 16 inches long, barefoot and humanoid in appearance with no claw marks. The witness noted: "The prints were long, but narrow for the length. There appeared to be toe prints and they were pressed down deeply into the mud."
