Champ Sightings
5 documented sightings across Lake Champlain, between New York, Vermont, and Quebec.
Marine Village Cottages, Point au Roche, Lake Champlain, New York
On August 7, 2026, Beth Haig, Susan Sistani and Hailee Finkle — all visiting from New York's Capital District and staying at Marine Village Cottages on Point au Roche — reported watching a long humped creature in the water before it dove and disappeared. They described it moving at roughly powerboat speed, about three times the size of an alligator, with what looked like a flat head.

Bulwagga Bay near Port Henry, Lake Champlain, New York
On August 1, 2026, Katy Elizabeth, director of Champ Search, was aboard her research vessel the Kelpie III near Port Henry when, as she put it, "we witnessed a large black hump rise to the surface." She filmed the wake it left behind and described it as an unusual encounter even against fourteen years of research on the lake. The sighting came during a summer cluster of Champ reports that prompted a panel of scientific experts to agree to evaluate one of the season's observations.

On the evening of June 11, 2026, Thomas Scozzafava — a retired town supervisor for Moriah — was looking out over Lake Champlain from a hill above Port Henry when he spotted an anomaly moving through the water and captured two cell-phone videos of it. The footage shows a dark shape swimming and surfacing, and was quickly picked up by Coast to Coast AM. Port Henry has billed itself as the 'Home of Champ' since the 1980s.

Bulwagga Bay, Lake Champlain, near Moriah, New York
During production of the film 'Lucy and the Lake Monster' on August 2, 2024, a drone operated by the Tabor-Rossi team captured what appears to be a large creature swimming just below the surface of Bulwagga Bay, trailing behind a boat. The anomaly went unnoticed until post-production review, and the footage was presented by William Shatner on the History series 'The UnXplained' on October 3, 2025, reigniting interest in America's most famous lake monster.
