Pasteadero area, north of Metán, Salta, Argentina
A gaucho from the Pasteadero district reported a face-to-face encounter with a large, dark, gorilla-like animal approximately 1.7 meters tall. He described the creature crossing a fence slowly while staring at him: 'when it shined I saw with my own eyes something incredible that I would never have imagined — that horrible thing was walking slowly and crossed the fence.' His dogs retreated to the house and his horses attempted to break out of their enclosure during the encounter.

Puna de Atacama highlands, Salta/Jujuy, Argentina (16,000 ft elevation)
Geologist Audio L. Pich discovered seventeen-inch human-like footprints at over 16,000 feet elevation on the Argentine side of the Andes. The stride length and depth suggested an extremely heavy bipedal animal. El Tribuno of Salta city subsequently reported additional prints near Macón Mountain described as 'bigger than those of elephants.' The find prompted an investigation by provincial authorities.
